Rachel Brislane

CBH Therapist, Dip. CBH, Dip. SMRB

Hi, I'm Rachel.  I'm a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist specialising in anxiety and stress management.  Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (aka CBH) is an evidence-based approach which integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with Hypnosis and Mindfulness-Based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I work with individuals on a one-to-one basis.  I also work with businesses delivering bespoke workshops relating to stress management.

*Please note I only work with Adults.

What is CBH?

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) is an evidence-based, integrative approach which combines Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with Hypnosis.  I also use Mindfulness-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I may use one of these modalities only or all of them depending on your individual needs and your specific goal.

Mindfulness helps to build your awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours including the bodily sensations and tensions associated with your stress or anxiety.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is used to identify, challenge and reframe unhelpful, distressing or anxious thought patterns and behaviours which may be maintaining or exacerbating the problem.

Hypnotherapy can be used to induce a deeply relaxed state, thereby providing some immediate relief whilst also being used to mentally rehearse and reinforce the positive changes you want to make in the way you think, feel and behave.

  • Diploma in Stress Management and Resilience Building

  • Certificate in Teaching Mindfulness

  • Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts

  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills (currently studying)

I am a registered Member of The Federation of Holistic Therapists (MFHT) and an Accredited Member of The Association of Coaches, Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists (ACCPH).  I follow their code of practice and ethics.

My Approach
One-to-One Sessions

Working together collaboratively on a one-to-one basis, our first session will be dedicated to initial consultation and assessment where we'll look at how things are for you right now (the problem) and how you would like things to be (your therapy goal).  Over a series of sessions we will work together to build your awareness, understanding and coping skills.  The focus is on helping you to develop the skills so you can help yourself going forwards.  Sessions are 60 minutes long and take place either face-to-face at my clinic space at Archways Private Medical & Health Clinic based in Romiley or online.

I schedule a free consultation call with all new clients (30mins online), where you can find out more about me and how I work, I can find out more about you, your individual needs and what you are hoping to achieve.

Group Mindfulness Course (6 weeks)

This 6 week "Introduction to Mindfulness" will teach you the basics in a simple and practical way so you can start incorporating mindfulness into your daily life to maintain good mental health and wellbeing, manage stress & overwhelm, boost resilience, improve awareness and focus and find joy in the little things.  Great to kick start a mindfulness practice or to reignite one.
